These photographs were taken by John in January 2019
The images honor “Rosie the Riveter”, women in the defense industry during WWII that were essential to the American war effort. The Rosies depicted in these photos are volunteers at the Yankee Air Museum in Belleville, Michigan called the Willow Run Tribute Rosie Volunteers. They honor the original Rosies who made up close to 40% of the workforce at the Willow Run B-2 4 Bomber Plant near Ann Arbor, Michigan, assembling over 8,600 B-24 Liberator bombers. Everything shown is authentic, from the real B-17 in the background (being restored at that time) to the real props from the 1940s we brought in. The Rosie railroad shots were taken at the Pere Marquette Railroad in Owosso, Michigan.
